Shiny pets and what they are worth

A Shiny pet is the same species you already know, wearing a different coat. It is not a rarity and it is not a form. It is a separate die the game rolls the moment a pet is created, and it can land on any pet at any rarity.

Shine is one of the cheapest ways to double a pet's mining power, which is why players chase it long before they can reach the top of the form ladder.

The base chance

Every hatch rolls for shine at a base chance of 0.5 percent, which is one in two hundred. That is the floor, before any upgrade, and it is the figure the Base Chance row shows in your boost panel.

Two research upgrades move it, and they are not the same thing. Shiny Hatch raises the chance that an egg produces a Shiny directly. Shiny Pet Craft belongs to the Evolution Hub instead, and it is the chance that a fusion turns a plain pet into a Shiny one.

What shine multiplies

The mining figure is baked into the pet itself, so a Shiny copy simply hits twice as hard as its plain twin. The net worth figure is why a Shiny of a modest rarity lifts a profile more than its damage alone suggests. The last row is the cost side: a Shiny source doubles what the Evolution Hub charges to run a fusion on it.

Shine and form stack

Shine and form sit on different axes, so they multiply rather than replace one another. A Shiny Golden is three times for the form and twice again for the coat.

One rule makes shine far more valuable than its raw chance suggests: fusing a Shiny pet always produces a Shiny result. On every machine, on every rung, the coat is inherited with no roll at all. Six Shiny Goldens make a Shiny Rainbow every time the fusion succeeds.

The reverse does not hold. If your source is plain, the crafted pet has no shine chance of its own to fall back on. The Shiny Pet Craft research is the entire shiny chance of a fusion output, not a bonus layered on a base.

Where shine shows up on screen

Does a Shiny pet count as a different pet in my collection?

Yes. Shine is part of the pet's identity, so Shiny and plain copies of the same species sit in separate rows and cannot be loaded into the same fusion.

Is shine worth more than a rarity step?

It depends what you are measuring. On mining power shine is a flat doubling, which a single rarity step usually beats. On net worth shine is worth ten times, a much bigger jump than its damage suggests.

Can a pet become Shiny after I hatch it?

Not that pet. The coat is decided when the pet is created and never changes. What you can do is fuse plain copies and hope the result rolls Shiny, which only happens if you have bought the Shiny Pet Craft research.

Do the odds shown to me include my upgrades?

Yes. The boost panel splits it out: a Base Chance row for the 0.5 percent floor, and separate rows for the Shiny Luck upgrades you own on top of it.
