Shiny pets and what they are worth
A Shiny pet is the same species you already know, in a different coat. It is not a rarity and it is not a form. The game rolls for shine separately the moment a pet is created, and it can land on any pet at any rarity.
Shine doubles a pet's mining power for no extra work, so players chase it long before they can afford the top of the form ladder.

Is Shiny a form?
No. Shine sits on top of whatever form a pet already has. A Shiny Golden is a Golden that also came out Shiny, and your plain copy and your Shiny copy of the same species sit in separate rows of your collection.
The base chance
Every hatch rolls for shine at 0.5%. That is the floor before any upgrade, and it is the number the Base Chance row shows in your boost panel.
Two research cards move it and they do different jobs. Shiny Hatch raises the chance an egg produces a Shiny, adding up to 0.6 percentage points at its top level. Shiny Pet Craft belongs to the Evolution Hub and decides how often a fusion turns plain copies into a Shiny one, up to 10 percent at its top level.
The Shiny Hunter pass is the biggest single source. It adds 2.5 percentage points on top of the base while it is active, so a hatch rolls shine at 3 percent.
What shine multiplies
Mining power is baked into the pet, so a Shiny copy hits twice as hard as its plain twin. Net worth moves much further, which is why a Shiny of a modest rarity lifts a profile more than its damage suggests. The last row is the cost side: a Shiny source doubles the coins the Evolution Hub charges to fuse it.

Shine and form stack
Shine and form are separate things, so they multiply instead of replacing each other. A Shiny Golden is 3 times for the form and 2 times again for the coat.
One rule makes shine worth far more than its chance suggests: fusing a Shiny pet always produces a Shiny result. Every machine, every rung, no roll involved. Six Shiny Goldens make a Shiny Rainbow every time the fusion succeeds.
It does not work the other way round. If your sources are plain, the only shine chance the result has is the Shiny Pet Craft research, and without that card there is none at all.
Where shine shows up on screen
- The fusion screen shows a Shiny Rate next to the success chance. They are two separate rolls. The success roll decides whether the fusion works, and only then does a second roll decide whether the result is Shiny.
- A batch fusion report counts Shiny Hits in its own column, next to successes and failures.
- Pet cards and the Codex carry a Shiny label, so you can pick shine out of a large collection.
Does a Shiny pet count as a different pet in my collection?
Yes. Shine is part of the pet's identity, so Shiny and plain copies of the same species sit in separate rows and cannot go into the same fusion.
Is shine worth more than a rarity step?
It depends what you are measuring. On mining power shine is a flat doubling, and a single rarity step normally beats that. On net worth shine is worth 10 times, a much bigger jump than its damage suggests.
Can a pet become Shiny after I hatch it?
Not that pet. The coat is decided when the pet is created and never changes. You can fuse plain copies and hope the result rolls Shiny, which only happens if you own the Shiny Pet Craft research.
How rare is a Shiny in Time Heroes?
The base chance is 0.5% per pet created, before any upgrade. Shiny Hatch research and the Shiny Hunter pass raise it. General Luck does not touch it.
